Kent greatly values the role of the clerk and has developed a programme of support and development which includes the following elements:

• Clerks Pack.This is a set of leaflets and model documents providing day-to-day procedural advice to support clerks in their role.  A copy has also been provided to each chair of governors
  
• Model job description for 3 levels of clerking, each with a recommended payscale
  
• Induction training programme for all new clerks
  
• Clerks newsletter "Any Other Business" at least 3 issues a year
  
• A core training programme, plus an opportunity to attend local forum/seminar groups
  
• Annual Conference for Clerks in Mid, West and East Kent
  
• Access to the National Training Scheme for Clerks with BTEC qualification
