Healthy Schools: Kent Programme Progress
 | National and Local Targets
To reinforce the government’s commitment to Healthy Schools work and the important role the government see the programme playing in contributing to a raft of national and local priorities, two national targets have been set. They are: - half of all schools will be Healthy Schools by December 2006 and
- all schools working towards being Healthy Schools by December 2009.
Kent has also exercised local flexibility within its Local Area Agreement (LAA) and set a specific engaged target for schools. Assumed within these national targets is the notion that local schemes will prioritise schools serving more socially deprived populations as defined by schools with 20% or more Free School Meal Eligibility (FSME). The key headline targets for Kent are as follows although there are a number of other related local priorities within the LAA which underpin these.
Kent Local Area Agreement Targets: - all schools with 20%+ Free School Meal Eligibility (FSME) are engaged in the Healthy Schools process by March 2006
- 50% of all schools to be engaged in becoming Health Schools by 31st December 2006, with the rest working towards Healthy Schools accreditation by March 2009.
