Daisy Chains Children's Centre

We are a brand new Children’s Centre which is still in its infancy.Image Meopham Windmill
Our Centre covers part of the rural community of Gravesham and consists of 3 main villages – Istead Rise, Meopham and Vigo.  Also included is Culverstone Green, which lies between Meopham and Vigo.

Our Centre is not a Centre as such, and in fact, we are unique to Gravesham.  Why?  Because we do not work from one specific building.

Our Centre staff are located throughout the villages.  The Administrator is based at Meopham library, where families can pop in for information on services and sessions, pick up leaflets and ask for advice.  The Community Involvement Worker is based Image Meopham Greenpart of the time at Vigo Village Hall and has opening times where families can come in for information, advice or just for a chat.  The Centre Manager is at this location part of the time as well.  We have a very successful Health Team who are based at Meopham Surgery.  They run 3 well attended baby clinics, one in each village.  They also run programmes such as Bouncing Babies which is tailored for new mums.

At present we are running sessions and programmes from four main venues:

  • St Barnabas Church, Istead RiseImage St Barnabas, Istead Rise
  • Istead Rise Community Centre
  • Meopham Village Hall, and
  • Vigo Village Hall

Other venues may be used in the future.

Some of the sessions on offer include Stay and Play and are run by our Children’s Workers.

A news magazine called Chatter Matters is produced every 2/3 months to keep parents updated on sessions, programmes and services on offer.

We welcome all families and are keen to hear any suggestions, ideas and comments they have regarding any aspect of their Centre.
