Testimonial from a Dad

I often go to the New Romney Children’s Centre Because:
I have two young daughters who I feel benefit from the activities available to them at the children’s centre .I often attend on a Tuesday morning where my children are able to participate in activities that stimulate their ability to socialise with children of their age group whilst also alleviating the creativity and imaginative skills. The children’s centre also provides the opportunity for my children to share and
learn more about different cultures from around the world, by experiencing different food at the lunch club.  I so feel the children’s centre is also an excellent resource for me to gain information on many different relevant issues that may be concern for me or even of interest to me. For example I have found the centre has plenty of information on places to take my children on days out in kent. Overall, I am very pleased with the positive impact I feel the children’s Centre has made on the local community and my children.

Although I do feel the Children’s centre should be able to open on a weekend to make it possible for parents who have to work during the week to come along to the children’s centre at the weekend and participate in activities.

First time mum testimonial

I am a first time mum with a baby boy who is now 9months old in the begining i was attending the centre to see the midwives for my anti-natal appointments then once Oakley was born i came for the health visitor and to weigh him. I was speaking to Lauren, centre administrator and she told me about the bumps to babies group which sounded good so i registered with the centre and joined the group.
I found everyone friendly and the group useful as us mums swap baby stories and tips and gain helpful advice.  Oakley really loves interacting with the other babies in the group his got little friends now.  When i first joined the group i was approached by josh the CIW and told about the benefits of baby massage again it sounded useful and interesting so i signed up to the class and completed the 6 week course it was very beneifical to Oakley he enjoyed it as much as me.  We still come to bumps to babies group every Monday and I have signed up to and completed several courses, I am currently attending the chatter matters course, Oakley goes in to the creche for about 2 hours while I'm in the course. He seems to really love it I find he benefits from playing with the other children and creche staff who are very welcoming and professional, they made me feel at ease when i left Oakley for the first time as they asked me about Oakley's likes and dislikes and any imformation that may help them look after him which was great.  I am always checking the information board for new courses and putting my name down for the ones that interest me because I know when I do them Oakley will be left in very good hands.  We enjoy regularly attending the centre so would like to give a big thank you to all the staff for making us feel so very welcome.

Thank you to all.

Parent testimonial

Whilst waiting in the reception at the New Romney Childrens Centre for my appointment with the midwife I was amazed at what was on offer for the parents and children at the centre. Before I could enquire about it I was approached by a very friendly centre manager. She told me all about what was on offer and encouraged me to register. Once I had my son Zac I attended my first baby clinic and was again amazed at how many parents and children were there and very impressed with the activities they were engaged in. Everyone seemed really happy. I was again approached by Jacky who informed me of the appropriate sessions I could attend with my new baby.  I first attended the Bumps to Babies seesion. Being a first time mum I felt very insecure and nervous around other mum's and professions, however this only lasted a few minutes as everyone made me feel so welcome and at ease. I have found this session very valuable as we discuss any problems we maybe having along with new ideas and approaches. Five months on I still love this session, I am now attending two Courses; Family Matters & Paediatric First Aid. Both courses are excellent and gives me a chance to be with other mothers who I can exchange ideas with along with learning positive appraches to childcare. I am also about to start an NVQ 2 in childcare, all of which I would not have been able to do if the Childrens Centre had not been there, and the staff being so friendly and welcoming.  The creche facilities are excellent, the staff are always smiling and always seem willing to help and appear to love what they do. Thankfully my son is a very contented baby and does not cause them any trouble, however I have observed them dealing with other unsettled babies and they just take it in their stride and do a very good job at calming the babies/children in their care using soothing and distraction techniques.

I recently attending a quiz night held at the centre and took along my husband and father-in-law. Both were very impressed with the facilities, staff and the evening.

I personally believe that if the children's centre and the services it provides had not been available to me, I could have quite easily felt overwhelmed with motherhood and possibley even fallen into depression.

The Centre is a very valuable service that has a lot to offer with a staff team you cannot fault in anyway, and I look forward to attending many more sessions as my son grows.
