Q: How do I open a PDF file and what is it?

A: PDF stands for Portable Document Format and is a type of file format created by Adobe Systems. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open .PDF files.

If you don't already have Acrobat Reader you can download it free from Adobe's web site (link below)

Q: The text size on Kent Trust Web is too small. How do I change it?

A: Microsoft Internet Explorer users:

  1. Using the menu bar at the top of the window select 'internet options' - this can be found under either the 'View' menu or the 'Tools' menu
  2. Click the button that says 'Accessibility'
  3. Click the box next to 'Ignore fonts now showing on web pages' so that it now shows a tick
  4. Click OK, then OK again to close the internet options panel
  5. Select the 'View' option from the Menu bar

Select 'text size'. Another menu will pop up - choose the text size you prefer from this list.

Netscape Navigator 4+ users:

  1. Connect to the internet so that the browser window is open
  2. Select 'Edit' from the menu bar
  3. Select 'Preferences'
  4. Select 'Appearance'
  5. Select 'Font'. Change the 'variable' and 'fixed width font' to your preferred option.

Q: How do I set Kent Trust Web as my home page?

A: To set up Kent Trust Web as your home page (i.e. so it will be the first page that opens when you open your Internet Explorer browser), click on "Tools" in the internet menu bar. Click "Internet Options". The top option displayed is "Home Page". You can type
http://www.kenttrustweb.org.uk into this field and then click "OK".

IMPORTANT: LA staff who can access KNet will automatically have KNet selected as their home page. Do NOT change this option or you may experience difficulty accessing KNet in future.
